I want to emphasize the importance of believing survivors of abuse. I don't know Jeanae at all. I've never interacted with her. I was asked to provide proof of Pete being an abuser, and here is what I found. I take no joy in bringing this information to light. It feels like telling little kids that Santa Claus doesn't exist. (If you are reading this, I will assume you already knew that. If you didn't know, I'm doubly sorry.)

Jeanae was a literal child when she got involved with Pete. She was also in a vulnerable mental space. He took advantage.

Did Pete Wentz date a 15 year old when he was 23?

This information is based off of the LiveJournal that is being credited as actually being Jeanae's. A lot of her posts have since been privated or deleted.

Jeanae White posted on her livejournal that she had been with Pete for 1/4th of her life on June 24, 2007. At the time, she would have been 20 years old. What is 1/4th of 20? 5. 20-5= 15.

There are additional posts supporting that they were together on that LiveJournal, including the first post that says that she only has a myspace.

We know that Jeanae and Pete were dating at least in March 2007 because they mention her by name in a Rolling Stone article linked below. They broke up at some point after that (because look at the time stamp about Pete not letting her see her dog.) What we don't know is when they actually started dating, but she said they had spent 1/4th of her life together. 5 years.

According to the article, she was "just shy of 20" meaning 19-20 years old, and he was 27 in 2007, so they would have been dating since she was 15 and he was 22-23 years old.

UPDATE 9/7/20: If you listen to the SHAIR podcast, she says that she started dating the guy when he was 23 and it ended around the time he was 28.

There is also a post stating that Pete wouldn't let them see her dog, be sure to read the comments.

If you read the comments, you can see she talks about them touring in San Diego. She really wants to see her dog. Below I linked tour dates from 2007, they were in Chula Vista at that time, technically 15 min away from San Diego, but that matches up. This is her actual live journal, and she is actually upset she can't see her dog. Wouldn't you be?

I am adding a transcript of some of the podcast below that is relevant to this subject matter. It is an imperfect and incomplete transcript at the moment:

Jeanae: From... you know, from the time I was younger, just kind of experimenting with drugs and alcohol, um, I- I was like I said I was always kind of like introverted and shy I was picked on a lot as a kid so like that really made me feel like i could get out of myself and i could find some acceptance amongst people... so it was more just social drinking it really didn't get out of hand until a little bit later in life...

Jeanae: When I was quite young I started dating a guy who was a lot older than me. You know, looking back on it, retrospecting with 2020 everything was really, really fucked up about it and really unhealthy and I was young and impressionable and easily manipulated and he was very good at that. So, um when I was 15 I entered into this 4 and a half year relationship with, he was 23 at the time and it went until he was 28 or so... yeah...Almost escaping my pain because I put everything into him. He was representing everything I could be and like he had all the power... Emotional warfare of a relationship for 4 and a half years... It had to end... At the time when it ended I was about 20 years old...

Jeanae had a negative experience dating Pete. He took their dog post break up. She did say something about it on her livejournal, but she has abandoned it since. If she truly felt that Pete had not wronged her, logic follows that she would have made a statement in her own words, or deleted the posts herself. The posts are still up.

This is a screenshot from Jason Tate (CEO of AbsolutePunk), saying that they tried to reach out to Jeanae. This is not an actual statement from Jeanae herself. Why would Jeanae refuse to comment and "want to be left alone?" Because the break up happened years ago and it was obviously a bad experience. Why would anyone want to re-live their trauma? If you saw the LJ comments, she got really upset when someone rather insensitively talked about her dog a year later. That shit stings.

Why hasn't Pete said anything?

If there is a rumor following you around for years that you had dated an underaged person, wouldn't you want to address it and lay it all to rest? Maybe he has done so PRIVATELY and told Jeanae to stop talking about him altogether because it makes him look bad and is defamation. He has the money to shut anyone up.

Why did I write this?

With more and more truth coming out about the scene and several musicians having allegations against them, I thought it would be good to address this rumor. It has been going around for over a decade, but nobody has actually looked at the evidence. I was accused of spreading misinformation for my believing this rumor, but I do personally believe there might be some truth to it. At around the time this happened, 26 year old Joel Madden very publicly dated 17 year old Hillary Duff, from 2005-2007. It was "normalized" back then, but in retrospect, it is very wrong. So IF Pete did date a 15 year old when he was 23, it didn't carry the social stigma that it does now.

This carrd is a response

I made this carrd in response to another carrd that people kept linking me. They were taking it as the gospel truth, when in fact, the carrd was very biased towards Pete. It was very obviously made by a huge Pete Wentz fan.

While the person who made the above carrd was well meaning, they are very biased towards Pete. They even go far as to state that if you believe that Pete dated a 15 year old, that makes you racist, homophobic, and ableist. What I don't like about that carrd is how awfully misogynistic they come off towards Jeanae. It is hypocritical to defend Pete on the basis of him being mentally ill, and then turn around and hate on Jeanae for having her own struggles.

You will notice I did not post actual pictures of them together here. Would you want a picture of you with your ex who took your dog post break up to circulate around the internet? I also did not include her mugshot because it's rude as fuck to circulate a photo of someone at their lowest point in life. The people defending Pete were spreading her mugshot as "proof" of her age. Yes, it does prove her birthday, proving she was 20 in 2007, but they actually started dating in 2002. The proof of them dating in 2002 was in her journal, but she privated and deleted a lot of the entries.

I truly HOPED that Pete did not actually date a child while he was a legal adult, but I am keeping an eye out for more information on this. Too many people want to believe that their favorite musician is a perfect person and free from sins, but that's not the case.
